Brighten up your table and up your "green" game by coming to this workshop to create a set of four custom dyed, reusable cloth napkins. Join Amanda as she demonstrates shibori-style folding which will result in napkins with spontaneous patterns and geometric shapes, or you are welcome to experiment with your own technique as well.
Using fiber artist grade dyes will result in vibrant colors with staying power. The most exciting part is unwrapping your creation to see the results of your folds, bands, and scrunching. While we have an idea of how the fabric will respond to different methods, be prepared to be surprised and delighted at the uniqueness of your individual work as a piece of usable art.
In addition to the napkins, participants are welcome to bring one manageable personal item to dye. (Anything the size of a t-shirt or fashion scarf would be appropriate).
The dye we are using needs time to "set", so items will be sent home in plastic bags with instructions for rinsing/washing after 12-24 hours. The dye is formulated to work with plant fibers - so any additional items brought to this workshop must be 100% cotton.
*While we will make every effort to make this experience as mess-free as possible, please wear clothing or bring an apron that is appropriate for the task.
