Doodle, draw, scribble and paint a pattern or scene as unique as yourself. No experience or skill is necessary for this workshop. Amanda will guide you through the basics of fabric painting while you draw or stencil a design that will resist the paint colors of your choice. This can be as structured as you want, or put your mindful doodling practice to work and see what happens!
Traditional batik uses wax to draw the design, the fabric is then dyed and the wax is melted out to reveal the original fabric color left behind in the pattern. Our Faux Batik will use simpler, easier to use materials so your creation will be ready to take home to dry by the end of class. Rectangles of cotton fabric will be provided, but feel free to bring a natural fiber "canvas" of your choosing if you prefer to make something more specific.
